Taurus Does the Strangest Things

16 May

While perusing The Firearm Blog, Steve points to a new Ultra Light revolver from Taurus, the 445, in .44 S&W Special.  I’m not sure why but I’ve always wanted a medium-framed 5-shot revolver in .44 Special.

Yeah, it’s a Taurus so quality may be speculative (the internet is full of both praise and distain for Taurus firearms, thus I say “may be…”).  However, let’s get on to the strange.

After reading Steve’s post I jumped over to taurususa.com and looked through the 2011 New Product Catalog.  After getting past the UGLY pistols on the first few pages, I stopped on page 6 – WHAT?!  Is that really a small-framed, 5-shot revolver chambered in .380 auto?  Yes, yes it is.  Why?  I don’t know.  It’s Taurus.

I’ve got a 2″ snubbie in 44 special made by Taurus that I’ve had for several years now. The only change I had to make was to put bigger grips on it.

    Reese:
I’ve got a PT 145, after doing a LOT of research on Taurus.

And I do like the styling of the wheelguns they make.
Look every bit as good as a S&W.
(yeah, I still miss the old Colts like the Diamondback)
I would say their quality HAS indeed become better over the last several years.

Well, they DO have revolvers that chamber .45 ACP.
    Why NOT .380?

    😉

    Stay safe.

I remember when you blogged about buying your Taurus. I’m happy to see that you’re enjoying it.
