I agree with most of the points here. #7 could be flushed out more, as “cop killer” could refer to steel cored ammunition, which is illegal for citizens to own and was manufactured in bulk by the USSR in 7.62x39mm.
#8 is, in my opinion, his weakest argument. When he states “There will rarely be an event that would warrant the use of an ‘assault weapon’…,” he’s lost his footing on the argument. Where will it end? “Why do you need a semi-automatic firearm? Why do you need more than 10 rounds in a magazine? Why do you need guns at all?” It’s not about need – the US Constitution guarantees an specific, enumerated right to keep and bear arms. Need has nothing to do with it. I can own one because it is my right to own one.
