Sacred Cows

Continuing the ongoing debate of 9mm vs. .45 ACP, I received an email from today regarding their contribution to the discussion.

I’m writing today to let you know about something pretty cool we just finished related to the great 9mm vs. 45 ACP debate that I think you’ll really like.

We quoted some fellow shooters and coded some unique tools to help folks understand the case for both 9mm and .45 ACP as the best caliber ever!

If you get a chance, I’d love to hear your thoughts – the case for 9mm is here:

The case for .45 ACP is here:

We really worked hard to make these a great definitive guide. If you think it’s of value, we’d love it if you shared it with your readers to help spread the word!

So here it is. Both articles are entertaining and pretty much encapsulate the debate. I carry and shoot a .45. I’m not a competition shooter, I’m not a large voice in the online firearms community. I’m just your average Joe. My contribution to the debate is, you shoot what you like and I’ll shoot what I like.

Why it is Important

Pocket Contents

Marko and Jay G. show us what they have in their pockets.  Back in 2008 I showed you what I had in mine.  Has anything changed?  A little.  The objects are the same, though upgraded as necessary by time.  I still carry a wallet, phone, flash drive, XD45 Compact (now in a Galco Summer Comfort holster), dual bladed S&W pocket knife and keys.

Winter allows for more pockets so I carry a spare mag (10 round) for the XD and a small(ish) digital voice recorder (even though my phone has video capabilities, the memory card isn’t very large).

A pocket pistol will become a necessity when I find work, as the XD will be a bit much to conceal.  I’m thinking either the LCP, or the P238.

One More Win?

Somehow, I feel that Obama’s name will get submitted at the last minute and he’ll win CNN’s Hero of the Year.

Can You Talk Trash On Your Favorites?

Marko did!

Your favorite gun sucks and so does your favorite ammo!

The Obama Test

Saw this on The Other Side this morning and took it. I disagree with Barack Obama 96% of the time (or 49 out of 51 questions). Where did we agree, you ask? On keeping current tariffs on imported ethanol and that you need a warrant to perform a search and seizure of an American suspected of terrorism (but if he/she’s illegal, go in locked and loaded, no warrant needed).

Be aware the there is a certain, shall we say, conservative bias to this test, and these things are rarely fair because of the way that questions are worded or the answers that are given. But hey, it’s still fun. Be sure to leave your % in the comments!

Update 10/6/08
Also, be sure to disclose what questions you may have agreed with.
